Update 5/11 – due to the extreme flooding here at the sanctuary, we regret to have to postpone our Mother’s Day Brunch event. Our first priority is making sure the animals are cared for and safe and we have a tremendous amount of property clean-up. We apologize as we were looking forward to providing you a lovely mother’s day here at the sanctuary. Your tickets will be honored for the rescheduled event, TBD, or any other public event at the sanctuary.

Come enjoy the most perfect Mother’s Day Brunch and Sanctuary Tour Sunday, May 14th from 11am-1pm!

What could be better than treating mom (or yourself) to a beautiful day surrounded by friends, family and rescued animals of 23 different species, amazing food from Wong Way Veg, and our now famous MOM-osa and mocktail bar?!

You’ll  have access to pens and pastures to meet all the snuggly animals who call Broken Shovels their forever home, with their caretakers nearby to tell you all about them.

Come out and have the greatest day making meaningful connection with some of the sweetest animals in Colorado, rescued from neglect, hoarding, abandonment and slaughter. A great time for all ages!

Each guest must have a ticket, regardless of age. (You will receive a receipt, but no tickets will be sent or emailed to you. The name under which the ticket was purchased is the name you will give at the gate at check-in)

Brunch Menu items are available from Wong Way Veg and desserts from Angie’s Vegan Cakes additional to the ticket price.

Tickets are non-refundable. If dangerous weather prevents the event from happening, we will reschedule or offer a rain check for a future event.

No food or beverage for animals or humans are allowed at this event.

No companion animals are allowed anywhere on the sanctuary.

Visitor Guidelines:

Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary is a safe place for animals rescued from abuse, neglect, slaughter and exploitation. We do not breed or sell animals. Occasionally, animals are rescued already pregnant and they and their children will live out their lives here, never to be separated, sold or used.

While you will have lots of time up close and personal, petting animals, this  place is not a petting zoo.

You have been invited into our animals safe space. We expect you to treat them with kindness and respect. You are visiting their home; they are not here for human entertainment. Not every animal is going to be friendly. Please leave them alone if they do not want attention.

Understand that there are animals here in various stages of recovery from injury or illness. We work with a vast network of veterinary specialists that provide the best care for the animals. Your perception of conditions of what is considered acceptable may not actually be in the best interest of the animal or parallel what our care-taking priorities are. We welcome any questions you have about the animals.

Please follow posted rules for the safety and comfort of the animals and other visitors.
