This is the beautiful chicken habitat we built last year, we scrimped and saved to buy big houses for every flock and make enclosures 3x a large as they’d had before. And so we’ve seen a year where our birds are happier than they’ve ever been.

The staff of Broken Shovels spends every single weekend building, cleaning, rearranging and improving spaces for the animals we’ve rescued. But we’ve run out of room…

With the neighboring property going up for sale in the next 7-10 days, we are grasping at the chance to bring so much more joy and happiness into the lives of over 500 animals who call sanctuary their home. Not to mention it gives us the room to completely overhaul the original property to deal with the catastrophic flooding we’ve experienced this year.

WE CAN DO THIS! With YOUR help! But we have SO LITTLE time! If we can make this miracle happen, you know we’ll put in all the work to transform the whole sanctuary into the worlds best place for rescued animals, like we always do.

The Governor Jared Polis and First Gentleman Marlon Reis got us started with the first $150k of the down payment we need by making us the recipients of funds from the Colorado Ball for All, and you all have raised FOUR THOUSAND dollars toward matching that over the last couple days. Can we keep it going?? Check out our web links for more on how to help, please keep sharing to make this dream come true for everyone who loves animals!
