Now you can book a private tour!
Each tour will get individual attention and we can tailor the experience to each group including the animals visited, subjects and stories discussed, and allowing individual time alone in some of the pens.
Tour Options
Private tours take place outside our public events and must fit around essential animal care.
To give our staff time to coordinate schedules and provide the best experience for your group, private tours must be requested at least 14 days in advance, however, we are currently booking out to Mid-November. Private tour fees
Broken Shovels is a nonprofit sanctuary supported entirely by donations, with no state or local government funding. Your private tour fee supports the food, shelter, and daily care of our rescued residents, along with the staff time needed to prepare for and guide your visit. Our fee is fixed regardless of group size, and we are unable to offer discounts or reduced rates. Thank you for understanding and supporting our sanctuary.
Private Tours
60 Minutes for up to 25 people – $300 (a great option for school groups or non-profits!)
90 Minutes for up to 4 people – $400
2 hours for up to 8 people – $550
Parties*
2 1/2 hours for up to 10 children (must have a minimum of 3 adult chaperones) – $600
Corporate Teambuilding*
2 1/2 hours for up to 25 people – $600
* No dairy, eggs or other animal products allowed on sanctuary grounds. No bag lunches or homemade prepared foods permitted. We reserve the right to request labels of food items you will bring. If you need vegan food suggestions, please let us know in your request and we will gladly answer any questions you have. We are not responsible for creating your party/meeting agenda or activities. However, we will customize your experience with the animals with a guided or self-guided tour.

Additional Tour Info
Tours can only be scheduled after 10am and the latest will be 2 hours before sunset.
Tours will be scheduled around routine caretaking chores. As we do not have a dedicated Tour Guide, we will do our best to accommodate your selected date and time.
No food is allowed to brought to the sanctuary for private or school/non-profit tours. Individuals may bring a water/beverage bottle.
We can generally accommodate one or two additional guests at no extra charge; please let us know before your visit so we can plan accordingly. Larger groups require advance arrangements.
All tour participants will be expected to read and follow the Rules for Visitors. We reserve the right to ask your group to leave if anyone breaks the tour agreement and/or disobeys Rules for Visitors.
