September Storms

September storm creeping up on the sanctuary with a cold wind, both the old and the new, looming in the distance, never sure whether it’ll veer a bit to the north or the south, or whether the clouds will open up right above us.

Our fields of “prairie roses”, the sunflowers and the black-eyed susans, and their flowered bind weed will love these last drinks as they get ready to scatter their seeds before winter, what’s left anyway, after the thousands of little wild birds have gotten their fill.

And we nervously ready ourselves for this storm and the changing seasons ahead.
